He also provided us with an information brochure thats tells us that this Austin is one of many beautiful cars used for the wedding service he provides, including a 1938 Austin 10 Cambridge, 1950 Bentley Mk6 named 'White Prince' as well as others. The car shown has cream bodywork with the interior being finished in red leather. John was very proud to give us the information on his car that he bought back in 2004 as a project car. He saw the extent of work needed and so began working on it. With everything stripped down to essentials he then started the rebuild which spanned over 3 years and over 1000 work hours, he tells us. Then on the 5th of July John Orme was told his car has passed its MOT test. So then over two years later this car is still a strong show favourite, with its Fiat twin cam 1.6 litre engine and Fiat gear box and and other adaptations including a Ford Capri exhaust system and a Toyota Celica rear axle. </p><p align="center"><img style="WIDTH: 390px; HEIGHT: 281px" height="281" src="https://websitebuilder.1and1.co.uk/xml/wfxdirect/res;jsessionid=8CEE76229072945B4506F5098FFF4BEF.TCpfix100a?name=P8020238.JPG&type=image" width="390" border="0" wfxsrc="P8020238.JPG" wfxtype="resource" /></p><p align="center" /><p align="center" /><p align="center"><span style="FONT-SIZE: 20px"><strong>Neil Fenn's Mini V4</strong></span></p><p align="center"><span style="FONT-SIZE: 18px"><img style="WIDTH: 386px; HEIGHT: 283px" height="283" src="https://websitebuilder.1and1.co.uk/xml/wfxdirect/res;jsessionid=8CEE76229072945B4506F5098FFF4BEF.TCpfix100a?name=P8020245.JPG&type=image" width="386" border="0" wfxsrc="P8020245.JPG" wfxtype="resource" /></span></p><p align="center"><span style="FONT-SIZE: 18px"><span style="FONT-SIZE: 12px"> With its unique appearance we all knew its was going to be be popular but i dont think even Neil Fenn knew exactly how popular it was going be, with flocks of people looking under the uplifted cab shell (which he told us is the only peice of original car thats left!), and peering at the Ford V4 engine. When we managed to peel him away from the inquisitive people, we started to talk to him about his car. He tells us that the original car was bought from his brother back in 1978, he then learnt to drive and even passed his driving test in the same Mini. Then in 1980 it came off the road to be worked on it took just two years to get it to standard and was then used to celebrate the 35th anniversary of mini. After this Neil tells us it then went off the road for a whole 20 years until early this year he began to work on it again for the then upcoming 50th anniversary of the Mini it still has the same scheme from back in '82 even the paintwork is the same! Neil told us he would like to give, in his words, 'some' of the credit to his brother, Andy Fenn as well as Andy's wife, Louise Lewicki and Dave Driver.</span></span></p><p align="center"><span style="FONT-SIZE: 18px"><span style="FONT-SIZE: 12px"><img style="WIDTH: 388px; HEIGHT: 286px" height="286" src="https://websitebuilder.1and1.co.uk/xml/wfxdirect/res;jsessionid=8CEE76229072945B4506F5098FFF4BEF.TCpfix100a?name=P8020242.JPG&type=image" width="388" border="0" wfxsrc="P8020242.JPG" wfxtype="resource" /></span></span></p><p align="center" /><p align="center"><span style="FONT-SIZE: 18px"><span style="FONT-SIZE: 20px"><strong>Donna Collison's Modified Mini Mayfair</strong></span></span></p><p align="center"><span style="FONT-SIZE: 18px"><span style="FONT-SIZE: 20px"><img style="WIDTH: 384px; HEIGHT: 287px" height="287" src="https://websitebuilder.1and1.co.uk/xml/wfxdirect/res;jsessionid=8CEE76229072945B4506F5098FFF4BEF.TCpfix100a?name=P8020262.JPG&type=image" width="384" border="0" wfxsrc="P8020262.JPG" wfxtype="resource" /></span></span></p><p align="center"><span style="FONT-SIZE: 18px"><span style="FONT-SIZE: 20px"><span style="FONT-SIZE: 12px"> This Mini was brought to the event by Donna Collison and has been a regular at the BMC/BL Rally for quite a few years. This year i finally got to talk to the owner. My leading question was "so how much did you pay for this car?" she replies with "£36 from ebay, but it was only a run of the mill mini mayfair back then" Over the years she has put her own touch to the car including custom interior, a full bodykit, chrome M3 replica mirrors as well as deep dished 'Superlites' and much more. "Any interesting facts about this car?" I ask "Its a regular trophy winner, as well as a feature car in Miniworld Magazine." She replies proudly. She then tells me thats she is a regular runner in the London to Brighton run. The car i was told is a daily driver car it spends no time under tarpaulins or in a garage waiting for the show season to begin, even in the winter! Donna also asked me to tell the readers that she is part of Kings Lynn Mini Owners Club (KLMOC, for short) And that there club website is <a href="http://www.klmoc.co.uk/">www.klmoc.co.uk</a>.</span></span></span></p><p align="center"><span style="FONT-SIZE: 18px"><span style="FONT-SIZE: 20px"><span style="FONT-SIZE: 12px"><img style="WIDTH: 386px; HEIGHT: 284px" height="284" src="https://websitebuilder.1and1.co.uk/xml/wfxdirect/res;jsessionid=8CEE76229072945B4506F5098FFF4BEF.TCpfix100a?name=P8020261.JPG&type=image" width="386" border="0" wfxsrc="P8020261.JPG" wfxtype="resource" /></span></span></span></p> |
